ASSIGNMENTS / FAR ISLE

Lasting images of a place

From landscape and destination stories to records of buildings and spaces: a good commission first finds the question the pictures must answer, then decides when, where and how to deliver.

Projects that fit

A clear story

Destination features, landscape stories and records of local culture that need a set of photographs telling one place together.

A real space

Buildings, guesthouses, public spaces or exhibitions that need a visual record of movement, materials, light and human scale.

Long-term use

Brand image libraries, publishing and exhibition projects that need a complete edit across formats and distances.

Three directions

Landscape and destination

Editorial series built from seasons, weather and local detail, not tourism pictures.

Architecture and space

The whole space, how people move through it, its materials and signs of use, so the photographs serve the architecture.

Long-term archive

Consistent colour, composition and file organisation for brands and institutions that publish continuously.

Where the work starts

01 Agree on the use

Who will look, where the photographs will appear, and the three pictures that matter most.

02 Plan the shoot

Schedule around site permits, weather windows, the direction of light and backup viewpoints.

03 Edit on location

Keep reviewing how the pictures relate while shooting, building a complete series rather than a pile of single frames.

04 Select and deliver

Export selects for each use, with place, shooting details and licence limits kept in the files.

A brief only needs to answer these

Place and time

The location, when it can be accessed, and season or weather constraints.

Use

Website, publication, exhibition, social media or print; whether both landscape and portrait formats are needed.

What to show

The spaces, people, materials or local details that must appear, and anything to avoid.

Team and permissions

The contact on site, access permits, portrait releases and anything else to confirm in advance.

02Plan the shoot on location
03Edit a complete set

Delivery is more than a folder

A coherent set

Complementary wide, medium and close images in landscape and portrait, ready for layout and publishing.

Clear records

File names, places, people and shooting notes in order, so anything can be found again later.

A defined licence

Media, term and permissions agreed before the project starts; sample photographs of unclear origin are never passed on as licensable material.

Asked before we start

What if the weather is wrong?

In landscape photography the weather is part of the subject. The plan keeps spare days and alternative pictures; a shot that needs particular light cannot be promised at a fixed time.

Can I commission just one photograph?

Yes, though we first need to know how the picture will be used. A project that tells a whole story is usually better planned as a set.

Can these sample photographs be licensed for my project?

No. The photographs on this site were taken by different photographers, and each page keeps its author and source. A real project should use newly shot or separately licensed images.

Let the pictures tell you whether we fit

Browse the series and see whether this way of looking at place, light and pace suits your project. Far Isle is a fictional brand made to demonstrate the product; this page shows how a commissions page can be structured and has no real booking address.
